Alright, this is hands down one of the EASIEST holiday treats and by far, a favorite with all ages. I’ve always been a fan of any sort of treat I can make, then do up in a festive bag with ribbon or a cute little Mason Jar with a holiday label. This recipe does the trick.
It’s also a favorite amongst children, so if you’re looking to please tiny palates – this is gold.
Here’s what you’ll need:
- 5 cups of cheerios
- 5 cups of chex cereal
- 2 cups of salted peanuts
- 1 pound of peanut M&Ms
- 1 package of mimi pretzels
- 2 cups of white chocolate melting wafers
- 3 tbsp of canola oil (I used sunflower oil)
Note: The beauty of this recipe is that you can wing it when it comes to portions. I rarely use this much of each ingredient and typically will half the recipe.
To get started, mix the first five ingredients in a large bowl. To make stirring easier, you may choose to do half and half in two large bowls.
Next, melt your oil + white chocolate wafers. I choose to do so on the stove top but you could also microwave wafers, if brave. If you choose to heat in the microwave, do so in a microwave friendly bowl and heat at 30 second intervals, stirring in between. Chocolate can go from perfect consistency to rock hard quick if overheated.
Once your chocolate is melted, drizzle it over your dry mix and toss until all ingredients are well coated.
On trays covered with wax or parchment paper, lay out the mixture to cool. When it’s set, store in a cool place or in the fridge. To serve, break pieces apart as you wish!
Yes, it’s really THAT easy.
