East Coast Mermaid explores Cape Spencer + Saint John

Cape Spencer

A long weekend is a fantastic weekend to kick off those summer vibes, which is exactly why we spent it roasting marshmallows over a campfire with some of our faves, catching some rays at the beach, watching a sunset with friends and taking a road trip to destination #1 on my 2016 Summer Bucket List.

Cape Spencer Lighthouse!

I first heard about Cape Spencer on the popular Instagram account, NoiseNB, and immediately made it my summer mission to get there. I have a thing for unique lighthouses and this one was no exception. When D offered to take me this past long weekend, I was a real life walking hearty eyes.

When I finally got to see it? So much excitement and squeals.

It was rainy (which we had predicted given Saint John’s typical climate) but it wasn’t foggy, so we had perfect views of the coastline, while getting the true cliffside feeling. This destination is NOT for the faint of heart or those scared of heights.

Adventure your middle name? This is the spot for you and may I highly recommend scaling the cliff to get down to the water level. It gets even prettier down below. Just be warned your limbs may hate you the next day after the climb back up.

After sufficient adventure at the Cape, we then headed into the neighboring city of Saint John to walk the downtown area in the warm spring rain and we grabbed some delicious lunch at the Saint John Alehouse. If you ever get to go, definitely get the fish & chips or clubhouse!

Here are some of my favorite photos from our little holiday Monday adventure!

What destinations are on your Summer Bucket List?

Crystal

Huge thank you to D for taking me on this adventure, putting up with all my photo taking, and for keeping me from falling off a cliff while visiting Cape Spencer x.
