New Brunswick Treasure Troves – The Montague Rose High Tea

Not only are mermaids full of secrets – we also know of some pretty great secret treasure troves.

You know – those hidden gems that are absolute magic that you’re not quite sure if you should keep to yourself or tell the world. Kind of like your favorite seaglass beach!

But unlike my best kept seaglass beaches – this summer, I’m excited to introduce a new series…

This new series is dedicated to New Brunswick’s Treasure Troves! These will be destinations and experiences that you’ve simply got to add to your New Brunswick summer travel plans. Each and every post will feature a restaurant, beach, attraction, accommodation, etc. that we love and that I hope you will love too!

And I’m so excited to make a splash in this first post with an absolute gem. Hold on to your seahorses!

The Montague Rose B&B and Tea Room

From the minute I first heard about the High Tea at the Montague Rose in St. Andrews by the Sea, New Brunswick, I was giddy to check it out. Of course, it was the summer of 2021 and we were in the midst of planning our dreamy coastal wedding in that seaside town and we were never able to make it happen.

That said – without ever having stayed at their B&B or having visited their Tea Room, I told anyone who asked about it, simply because it looked magical on the ‘gram! Speaking of, you should definitely follow them!

Fast forward to this spring when I was in St. Andrews for my annual Crystal Richard & Co. retreat and imagine just how excited I was when owners Zainub and Ben invited me to join them for High Tea on a drizzly Wednesday afternoon.

And oh em gee!

It was DELIGHTFUL! Not to mention, so incredibly tasty!

The Montague Rose High Tea experience is available to both B&B guests, as well as the public by reservation Thursday through Sunday from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm.

It’s $65 for tea for two and guests receive a three tier cake stand with two types of finger sandwiches, homemade scones with clotted cream and jam, and baked goods. You can also choose from tea or coffee, and as a coffee lover, I thought it was great that they bring you your very own fresh french press!

Everything was delicious but special attention must be dedicated to the scones, clotted cream and jam. Ben makes the clotted cream himself and told me it’s a 24 hour process. And it is worth every minute dedicated to it. It is SO good. Regular cream cheese will never compare.

And the sandwiches? I LOVE sandwiches and their cucumber cream cheese was heavenly, as was their prosciutto and Boursin.

Trust me when I say – if you’re planning a trip to St. Andrews this summer, you simply must reserve a spot for High Tea. I know I’ll be back again very soon and I can’t wait to bring everyone I know.

To book your High Tea experience or a room at their beautiful B&B, call (778) 875 -2204 or (506) 529-8963 or email themontaguerose@gmail.com. They’re also open to group bookings for events such as bridal showers, anniversaries, birthdays, baby showers, etc. for groups up to 12 people and believe me – I’m already plotting how I can host something there this fall! Who’s in?

Boatloads of thanks to Zainub and Ben for inviting me to the Montague Rose to experience their amazing High Tea! I’m now obsessed and will be back for more of that clotted cream!

Disclaimer: This was a gifted experience, but all opinions are my own and oh em gee, I can’t wait to go back this summer.
