I dedicate a lot of time on East Coast Mermaid to talking about the adventures I take with my husband, but there is something just as special about a memorable trip with the girls.
Or as we say around these waters – the gulls!
Living in the Maritimes, there are no shortages of dreamy destinations to escape to with your besties. From a coastal shopping trip to seaside St. Andrews by the Sea to a beach weekend in Shediac, New Brunswick.
But if you’re looking to jump provinces with your girls and head to Wolfville – aka, Nova Scotia’s wine country – than this post is for you.
It’s also for you if you’re planning a trip to Wolfville with ANY of your favorite people, let’s be honest.
Who doesn’t love gorgeous accommodations, delicious food, and a trip to the winery.
This March, my business besties and I planned our latest retreat to Wolfville. These women are not only dear friends of mine – they’re my unofficial board of directors and I’m so lucky to have them.
Every few months, we plan a retreat in a new city or location and on this trip, we booked a stay at the 470 Main Boutique Hotel by Over Sea, right downtown within walking distance to all of the best restaurants and attractions.
And — because it’s wine country — just a short drive away from all of the best wineries, including this mermaid’s favourite — Benjamin Bridge, home of Nova 7.
Because sharing is caring, here’s a sneak peak at our visit to Wolfville.

Over Sea owns and operates a number of beautiful units to choose from in downtown Wolfville. Between the six of us traveling together, we stayed at the 470 Main Boutique Hotel and the Clock Park King Suite, right around the corner.

I stayed in 203 with my business bestie Alicia Simms (if you’re not following her, you should be) and it had two large bedrooms featuring one queen size bed and one king, as well as a full-size bathroom and one powder room. The shower was massive and came with an epic rain shower head. That always secures bonus points in my book.

These units are GORGEOUS and incredibly spacious.
Many of you told me you had stayed at one of these properties while attending Acadia graduations or weddings, and I can see how these rooms would be perfect any special event and would provide plenty of space for not only getting ready, but entertaining too.
If you love to cook when you travel, the kitchen provides you with everything you need to make delicious meals, like this yummy Shakshouka dish that Ashley prepared for us for breakfast.

It wasn’t quite patio weather during our stay, but I did love that each unit came with a spacious balcony with ocean views in the distance. And despite the chilly temperatures, we still enjoyed the fire table after dinner over drinks in the evening.
And there was plenty of room to hop from each other’s suites to spend time together, dream big, and chat about life and business together. Each unit has its own wi-fi, so if you’re running your global PR biz from 470 Main, know that you’re set for success.

I mentioned that 470 Main is minutes away from some of the best restaurants in town. We had dinner on the first night at The Library Pub and Merchant Wine Tavern, right below the hotel. Whether you’re just looking for drinks with friends or dinner — the atmosphere, is just right. I had the most delicious panfried haddock with one of the best twists on tartar sauce ever.

On the second night, we made reservations for Juniper where I had the most incredible Fisherman’s Seafood Pie. This restaurant had a smaller menu but everything looked incredible on it. They also serve tasty cocktails and some delicious dessert options.

Of course, it wouldn’t be a trip to Wolfville without visiting a winery.
We ended up at Benjamin Bridge (my favorite) for drinks in their tasting room and had the opportunity to try their new Super Nova 7 Cocktail which was delicious. What I especially love about Benjamin Bridge is that whether you drink wine or not, they have delicious beverage options for you to choose from, including their non-alcoholic wine, Piquette Zero.
Naturally, I waddled out of there with a spring supply of Nova 7 – video here 🎥

Lastly, before beginning my long drive home to New Brunswick, I couldn’t resist stopping to explore Evangeline Beach, located about 10 minutes from downtown Wolfville. The tide was out and it was such a gorgeous beach. I saw all kinds of wildlife along the drive including an absolutely majestic bald eagle.
My two visits to Wolfville have been during the off-seasons (October and March) so trust me when I say, I’m really looking forward to visiting Wolfville during the summer months to take in all of the wineries, explore this beautiful beach, and eat more delicious local food.

And next time I visit, I know exactly where I’ll be staying!
Whether you’re going for a weekend, a week, or longer — Over Sea is the perfect place to call home. Consider it mermaid approved 🐚
