On Day 7 of the 12 Days of Christmas, Iām encouraging every single one of you to take an hour or two this week, amid the hustle and bustle of the holidays, to pull out an old recipe from your grandmotherās cookbook (or the internet ā I donāt judge) and bake with someone you love.
Hereās why this is so important:
- The end product is fresh baked holiday goods. This is aĀ win-win situation.
- Ā Itās a pinch hard to be on your phone when your hands are covered in flour or icing. Baking is a FANTASTIC way to unplugĀ for an evening or afternoon.
- You get to reminisce about good times from the past and smile over them. For example, whenever I bake with my mom, we have a ton of inside jokes and special memories from making cookies when I was younger. When I bake with my best friend, we laugh about the time it was so cold out, we put our peanut butter balls on the front step to chill. The point is. You get to laugh and smile and walk down memory lane with those you love.
This past weekend, after a particularly stressful and worrisome Saturday (fathers and ice donāt mix) my mother and I got togetherĀ to do our annual shortbread cookie baking while Dad took it easy and supervised with the two cats.
The end result? Smiles, good vibes, laughs, and beautifully decorated cookies.

SoĀ āĀ who will you do some holiday bakingĀ with this week?Ā
