You know you’re a blogger when… You book a night out of town with your boyfriend for your anniversary and minutes later it hits you – oh, I will be able to get some shots for an East Coast Wanderfolk post!
Truthfully, my 24 hours out of the province, unplugged and on Prince Edward Island with D were beyond needed and did wonders for my creativity, happiness, and health. Even if I was sick the whole time and had to sneak off to the bathroom at our anniversary dinner to have a sneeze attack.
I’m all about living authentically and I think admitting that I blew my nose during our entire anniversary trip is incredibly important. And thank you D for loving me even when I’m an infectious mucus machine.
All of this to say – I’m so happy we made it happen despite busy schedules.
We had the most comfortable and perfect stay at the Holman Grand Hotel in downtown Charlottetown. This was my first time at this hotel and it certainly won’t be my last. The location is mint, the service was impeccable and friendly, and the room was modern with all the amenities. The complimentary bathrobes were SO comfy and the bed was an absolute DREAM. I will definitely be recommending the Holman to everyone I know and I cannot wait to go back next summer.
Bonus: We stepped off the elevator on our floor to find a “catfish” or as I like to call it – a mercat!
While Charlottetown is home to some stellar restaurants, in the end we chose the Brickhouse Kitchen & Bar for our anniversary dinner and both agreed it was the best decision we could have possibly made. I would highly recommend their BLT Dip for starters and their Lobster Mac and Cheese is out of this world.
We finished the night with the FUN! desert: Funfetti vanilla cake with Cow’s birthday cake ice cream, a funky bubble gum macaron and Fruitloop rainbow sauce.
Yeah. You’re going to talk about this one for a LONG time.
Here are a few more of my favorite snapshots from our overnighter, including some shots of Brackley Beach – one of my favorite beaches on the island 🌊
As always, Prince Edward Island, you’re an East Coast mermaid’s dream ✌🏻

St. Andrews by the Sea: An Algonquin Resort Escape – East Coast Mermaid
January 11, 2018 at 7:00 am[…] Last year, D and I had the crazy idea to go to Prince Edward Island for our fist anniversary, despite it being on a bone chilling weekend in November and a stat holiday here in Canada. Translation: pretty much everything was closed. And yet, there was something about traveling and being in a vacation spot in the off-season that made it magical. You can catch up on that trip here.
