Thoughts on Love

One year ago today, a girl walked into a restaurant and locked eyes with her date. She was never one for hugging someone on a first date, let alone one she’d only started talking to a little over 24 hours earlier. Sure, he claimed to be one of her cousin’s best friends but serial killers totally say stuff like that too.

No, this girl was a loyal and longtime fan of the awkward handshake and silent prayer “Please don’t be creepy, please don’t be creepy.” on all first dates while quickly going over her exit strategy.

But this time, something was different. She walked. No, practically ran towards him and she hugged him. And he immediately felt like home.

And 5 hours of conversation later, after the best first kiss of her life, she texted her best friend: I’m smitten.

It’s incredibly hard for me as a blogger, a storyteller, and a romantic to not write a thousand words, with a hundred corresponding photos to share even a glimpse of how amazing the past year truly has been.

But the best love stories, are the ones we hold in our hearts and share in our smiles. They’re the ones we re-play when we’re having a bad day. The ones that get us through the ups and downs of life. They are the ones that make us believe in soulmates.

Someone once said, one day you’ll meet someone who will make you realize why it never worked out with anyone else.

D – I’m so incredibly glad it was you.

Disclaimer: he really was one of her cousin’s best friends.
