Coffee + Beaches at Carter’s Beach, Nova Scotia

East-Coast-Summer-Series-Coffee-Beaches-Tour

A few weeks ago, I checked two more items off my 2016 Summer Bucket List when I visited my fellow mermaid + best friend S in Halifax for 24 hours of whirlwind adventure.

The goal was to find the legendary Carter’s Beach, known for its Caribbean blue waters and white sand, while also embarking on a fun coffee + beaches tour on the South Shore. While the weather wasn’t perfect, the coffee and beaches were beautiful even under overcast skies. And as with any adventure that S and I set out on, we collected memories like shells.

Carter’s Beach was a dream, and while the waters weren’t as blue as it is in photos because of the lack of sun, it was still totally worth the two hour drive from Halifax.  Make sure to look for sand dollars if you go!

After Carter’s Beach, we headed back towards Mahone Bay and Lunenburg to take in the Lunenburg Street Festival and visit the cutest little shops along their main street – including my favorite, Dots and Loops. We also met a chicken out for an afternoon stroll.

The famous Bluenose II was in town, so a walk down to the Lunenburg waterfront to check it out and awe over the other beautiful ships in harbour was a must, as always.

Next up, we headed to the quiet and stunning Queensland Beach for a few last perfect beach moments before heading to Hubbards for their summer Food Truck Rally. The chicken + corn from Asado Wood Fired Grill was to die for.

In short, the day was absolutely perfect and in true East Coast Summer Series fashion – I put together a short but sweet video of the day!

Until the next East Coast adventure – stay salty, stay wild and keep wandering!
