If there is one thing that is certain as the sun will set, it’s my ability to pick up a Christina Lauren book the day it’s released and basically ignore reality until I’ve read it start to finish in one sitting. It’s just how I roll. When I picked up Wicked Sexy Liar, I immediately proceeded to D’s place where I curled up on the couch, slipped my glasses on, and got lost in the Wild Series world that I’ve come to love.
Truly, if I can say only one thing about any book by Christina Lauren, it’s that the world and reality you’re transported to with their words, will always feel like home. Pick up their newest book and you’re immediately there and it feels like you never left.
Simply put: I LOVE these characters and while I’ve always been partial to Ansel (read all my reasons why here) and most recently – Oliver, because, well, Oliver – I’ve got to say that Luke Sutter is perfection and London? London is my inner surf baby. I get her. And by getting her, I can just relate to her on a level unlike any of the other women of the wild series.
As per Goodreads:
London Hughes is very content to surf daily, tend bar, hang out with her group of friends, and slowly orient herself in the years after college. Everything’s going great and according to the non-plan. But when a wave knocks her for a loop one morning, then Luke Sutter’s flirtatious smile knocks her for another that evening, she veers slightly off course…and into his path. Sure, he’s a total player, but the Why not—it’s only one night is a persistent voice in her ear.
For his part, Luke’s been on hookup autopilot for so long that he rarely ever pauses to consider what he’s doing. But after an amazing time with London, he realizes that he hasn’t been moving on from a devastating heartbreak so much as he’s been drifting to wherever—and whomever—the current takes him. With London he wants more.
Every relationship involves two people…plus their pasts. And as much as she enjoys her fling with Luke, when London learns about his past—more specifically, who’s in it—everything becomes the brand of complicated she strives to avoid. It’s up to Luke then to change some things in order to try and ensure he’s not something she’ll outright avoid as well.
Are you hooked? You’re welcome.
As with all books in the Wild Series, you get the whole crew – Mia and Ansel, Lola and Oliver, and Harlow and Finn. Which is why reading this book will make you feel like home, because you’re reunited with all of your favorite characters.
And lastly (and most importantly) I just love Luke and London’s chemistry. It’s raw but epic and it will give you all the feels. I promise. The last page of the epilogue? It had me flailing all over the place.
SO! If you’re new to the Christina Lauren universe, please go pick up this series today and trust me when I say, you should just grab them all because you’re going to want to read all of them in one weekend. And if you’re not new to this universe, well, high five and have you read this book yet? Let’s chat about it!
