Over the years, I’ve had the chance to do many book recommendations on this blog. It’s one of my favorite things to write about, but I’ve been waiting for this day for a long time. Because today, I get to recommend a book that is not only written by one of my friends, but I have a seriously tear-worthy shout out in the Acknowledgements. Which when reading it for the first time, was one of the coolest moments of my life. You know, after I stopped crying.
So yeah – this is very exciting for me.
The book is One More Shot written by the insanely talented (and amazing friend of mine) Victoria Denault.
I’ve mentioned it plenty of times on here and it’s been the coolest to hear from so many of you that picked up a copy and read it within 24hours. Because honestly, you all read it in 24hours. Why? Because it’s just that good. You physically can’t put it down.
One More Shot is the story of just that. One More Shot and a second chance at love (and on the ice) because yes – this book is all about love, sex, and hockey. And let me go on record – I was never into hockey or hockey players. I was after this book. So whether you were born to be a puck bunny or not – you’re still going to love it.
Here are three more (spoiler-free) reasons why I loved it and why I know you will too!
- Much of it is set in Coastal Maine. Maine is one of my favorite states and I love sleepy, seaside towns, so this setting was perfect for me.
- Kitchen Counters – this will mean something to you once you’ve read this and you’ll never look at another one the same ever again. Victoria just writes great sex. I’m talking Christina Lauren level great sex. This is why people can’t put this book down.
- Gorgeous, manly, hockey players and strong, career driven women. I love my broken, bad boys to be challenged by a hard-working, stubborn woman, and One More Shot nails it.
Bonus: there are TWO more books in the series, with the next one out September 8th! You can pre-order it today!
So everyone – do yourself a favor, go buy this book, and curl up in the summer sun with Jordan Garrison. And make sure to send Victoria some love! I’m so so SO incredibly proud of her and I’m beyond lucky to call her a friend.
Victoria – thank you for letting me be a small part of Jordan and Jessie’s world xo
