Maine – The Way Life Should Be

If you’ve ever visited Maine, I’m sure you can understand why I’ve been drowning in sadness for days since coming back and unable to update my blog.

Ok so maybe thats a bit of an exaggeration.

But here is something that isn’t an exaggeration – I am madly in love with Maine.

But really.

This wasn’t my first time in Maine – in fact, I spent a few days in Old Orchard Beach a few summers ago (mad love for that beach and pier) and  I’ve driven through Maine many a time before in my 29 years. That said, if you’ve ever driven through Maine on the I95 – you know it’s anything but scenic.

But if you take Route 1 along the coast? Prepare to fall unconditionally and irrevocably in love with Maine. Get a park pass and spend a couple of days in Acadia National Park? You will never want to leave. This I promise you.

Not only was a vacation much-ly needed after a whirlwind summer, but after post-poning my trip out west until the spring, Maine seemed like an inexpensive road trip. It was also the perfect location for my mother and I’s annual mother-daughter summer trip. I never could have imagined when I’d first mentioned Bar Harbor – that one trip would change everything I knew about summer trips on the East Coast.

read: I will definitely be back next summer, and the next summer, and the summer after that.

We may have only been gone for five days but I have enough stories and photos to fill at least five blog posts. Which is why I’ve decided that since my multiple New York City trip posts went over so well – I’d split the Maine vacation into a few posts as well.

So stay tuned – in the coming week or two, I will share some beautiful snapshots from Acadia National Park, picturesque Bar Harbor, two incredible meals, and enough coastal Maine to set my nautical loving heart on fire.

Oh – and for those of you that read and loved Beautiful Bastard – I just finished the sequel/novella Beautiful Bitch and can’t wait to share my thoughts on here too.

Until next time.

PS: I’ve also started watching Sons of Anarchy, you know, in attempt to prepare myself for all things Charlie Hunnam/Christian Grey and I can’t get enough. In fact, in about 48 hours, I’ve already watched all of season 1 and I’m almost finished season 2. So if YOU watch Sons of Anarchy – please be tweeting me, or texting me (if you have that privilege) because I have things to talk about.

  1. I met my husband in Maine (we were whitewater rafting guides on the Kennebec and Penobscot Rivers). It was a fun college summer-job. Most amazing summer ever. We haven’t been back yet (its a far trip now that we live in Missouri) but we always long to go back! And every once in awhile we imagine moving there. But the winter there…
